The Fall Program for Freshmen San Francisco Campus
The city is your classroom.
FPF San Francisco
You got into Berkeley—congrats! But why stop there when you can add a semester in San Francisco to your college experience? When you came to visit Berkeley and looked across the Bay, you saw S.F.—and you fell in love. Why stare from a distance when you can be there? We bridged the best of both worlds: the number one public university in the world with the most captivating city in the world.
Take your classes at the brand-new UC Berkeley Extension San Francisco Campus, just two blocks from the Embarcadero BART station and the gorgeous San Francisco Bay. For one semester, you take classes with the same 300 people, make friends from Day 1 and explore all that the city has to offer—from the arts to the diverse cultures to the natural beauty. Most of your instructors and all of your advisors hold office hours right on site.
Live on campus and commute to S.F. We offer a Class Pass that gets you to school and back home. You can also live off campus in S.F. or commute from home. And, you enjoy all of the same perks of campus life: access to an amazing library system, more than 1,000 student organizations—including Greek life—resources and programming for students at all levels, and research projects in fields from environmental science to art history to integrative biology. You also get access to all the same services as on-campus students, including health services, learning center, sports facilities and more!
Taking classes in the heart of the city means many opportunities to learn outside the classroom. Imagine your biology lecture inside the Academy of Sciences, your art discussion at the SF MOMA, and you and your classmates studying over local, sustainable food at the Ferry Plaza. Most of your courses focus on San Francisco, Bay Area and California themes, and many provide opportunities for you to engage in community-based research projects. Our instructors are eager to explore the city with you!
"A small class size, close-knit community and connection with professors really helped me to excel as a new student."
